All of our logs come from New Hampshire forests within a 50 mile radius of the processing plant located in Henniker, NH. Once the logs arrive at our processing plant, they are sorted by size and cut to length (16”). Fire wood that is to be kiln dried is put into kiln baskets and placed in a kiln for drying. Kiln dried firewood is then stored under cover until it is delivered to a customer; thus ensuring its moisture content remains low. Some customers prefer to purchase wood already seasoned as opposed to green wood. The difference is time and cost. Green wood is typically about $120 less per cord then wood that has been seasoned for 6 to 8 months. Many of our competitors sell wood that been drying only 6-8 months and call it seasoned. True "seasoned wood" takes at least 12 to 18 months to dry. The cost for seasoned is only about $50 less per cord than kiln dried firewood. Therefore we encourage our customers to purchase kiln dried firewood because the time to season the wood and the cost difference are outweighed by the advantages of our kiln dried firewood.
